A new leak has revealed an image of a Huawei phone with full metal chassis and a large display, touted for launch at IFA 2015

Two days ago, Twitter user Evan Blass (@evleaks), who has been famous for often leaking information on upcoming and rumoured smartphones, posted an image of a metal-bodied device branded with the Huawei logo, stating that the device will be unveiled on September 2, at IFA 2015. He had stated with his first tweet that the device may feature force touch, and be a part of Huawei’s D series of smartphones, but later posted another tweet saying force touch will not be included in the phone, and it will not be a part of Huawei’s D series either, “which is dead”.

The leaked image of the smartphone shows a large display with a bezel-less facade, that is becoming a trend in most new phones that are being released. There are no physical buttons on the front, and the back houses the Huawei branding, the primary camera with an LED flash, and a square-shaped fingerprint scanner right underneath it. The smartphone may possibly be a part of Huawei’s Ascend Mate series, after Blass stated that it will not be a part of the D series.

There have been no information on the device so far. YouTuber ‘The Marox’ had posted two videos of a similar-looking smartphone, calling it the Huawei Honor 7 prototype. The branding was not present on the phone, which led to no confirmed claims of the phone being anything more than a rumour. If the smartphone featured in the video is the same one as this, it may feature a 2.2GHz HiSilicon Kirin 920/935(?) octa-core processor, Mali-T624 GPU, 1080p resolution on the display, a 13-megapixel primary camera, 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

It is worth noting that all of these specifications are only speculative, and there has been no official word by Huawei about this phone. The IFA 2015 is scheduled to start on September 2, and it will be interesting to see if Huawei indeed unveils this, or a similar smartphone, at the coveted tech event. Stay tuned for more on Huawei’s mystery device when information surfaces!
