The LG G5 has been torn down by iFixit, and complying with expectations, it says that the phone is quite easy to repair. The device has been given a repairability score of eight out of 10, with 10 being the easiest to repair. In its report, iFixit noted that the phone was relatively simple to open up as there was no glue, and it only had a few screws to remove. iFixit added that many of the components of the LG G5 were modular, hence making it easier and cheaper to replace. iFixit also found out that the LG G5 has a mechanical shock absorber, to ensure that the removeable battery fits in snugly.
However, it was noted in the report that the fused display assembly will need to be replaced in case the LCD or glass screen breaks, which in turn increases the cost of replacement. It was also noted that the covers for the module were glued on, which made repairs a little difficult. However, the module itself made replacing a faulty USB port easier. The easy repairability of a flagship phone like the LG G5 may urge some users into buying it, over its Android competitors. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S7 got a repairability score of three out of 10, while the Nexus 6P got a score of two out of 10. However, the Apple iPhone 6s got a much better repairability score of seven out of 10.
