Idea launches Zeal dual-SIM Android 1GHz smartphone at Rs. 5,390

Idea has launched a 3G smartphone called the Zeal for Rs. 5,390. It boasts of a 1GHz Snapdragon processor but runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Idea Cellular has extended its services in the smartphone market and launched the Zeal, a dual-SIM smartphone running on Android for Rs. 5,390.

In terms of the specifications, the Zeal has a 3.5-inch display with a 320×480 pixel resolution. It runs on the older Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS. The rear of the smartphone houses a 3MP shooter. The Zeal also has 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM with expandable storage up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. It runs on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The smartphone also boasts of dual-SIM capabilities.

The Zeal also supports Wi-Fi, A-GPS, MP3 Player, Bluetooth, and built-in social media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, unlimited SMS/MMS and phone directory, and pre-loaded apps such as Google, YouTube and Idea TV.

Mr. Rajat Mukarji, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Idea Cellular said, “For the past year, Idea has been focused on proliferating 3G in India by developing the entire ecosystem comprising of network coverage, customer service, applications and devices. We understand that the device plays an important role in enhancing service experience for the user, and has been a key component of Idea’s 3G growth strategy. Idea Zeal has been affordably priced to suit the pockets of consumers in semi-urban and rural markets and is aimed at upgrading existing 2G users to 3G.”

The Zeal comes with a bundled data plan. For a pack of Rs. 261, Zeal users can get 1GB of free data every month for first 3 months, and free Idea TV for first 3 months.
