Idea has launched two new budget 3G smartphones called Magna and Magna L for Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,250 respectively in India. The telecom operator is offering attractive data schemes with the devices.
All Idea buyers will get 16GB of 3G data worth Rs 3,200 for a recharge of just Rs 261 or T 4GB of 3G data every month for a period of four months. Apart from the free data, users will be given a free subscription of Idea TV for 4 months. Idea stated that the 3G budget smartphones are "targeted at young students, professionals and first time smartphone users."
The Idea Magna has a 4-inch display and a 1.3GHz dual-core processor. It has a 5 MP rear camera with flash and a VGA front-facing camera. The Magna also comes with a guest mode for privacy and QR reader.
The Idea Magna L has a 4.5-inch display and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. Other features included are a guest mode for privacy, QR reader and HD recording. It comes with a free flip cover.
Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular said, "3G adoption is greatly dependent on pricing of 3G smartphones and data plans. By bundling 16 GB 3G data with our entire range of smartphones, we have brought down the total cost of owning a smartphone, and 3G connection, by over 50%. With the new range of Magna and Magna L, 2G users can conveniently upgrade to 3G by paying as low as Rs. 4,999 and acquiring a stylish 3G smartphone with 16 GB data."
Last month Idea launched the Ultra+ and Idea FAB 3G dual-SIM smartphones for Rs. 8,300 and Rs. 4,999 respectively. Like all other Idea smartphones, Idea is offering special data schemes for 3G users with the devices. Read: BlackBerry partners with Idea to offer users special 2G data plans
