HIGHLIGHTS

The Honor V10 will be a flagship smartphone expected to sport the Kirin 970 chipset and thin bezel design similar to the Mate 10 series. The smartphone will be launched on November 28 and is expected to replace the Honor 8 Pro when it launches here.

Huawei, the third largest smartphone brand globally is set to launch another bezel-less smartphone under its Honor brand next week. Honor, Huawei's sub-brand is set to launch the V10 flagship smartphone at an event in China on November 28. The launch will be followed by another event in London where the smartphone will be announced for the European market.

Honor V10, however, is not a mystery device by any means. It has been leaked before in the form of renders and has even appeared on TENAA, the Chinese Telecommunication Authority's listing, revealing some of its key specifications and design. The smartphone has now appeared on Weibo, which is our best look yet at the upcoming smartphone.

The leaked image perfectly aligns with what we have heard so far about the smartphone. The smartphone will be the first flagship device with an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. Honor has already launched smartphones with thin bezels in the form of the Honor 9i and Honor 7x and with the V10, it will be aiming to take on the likes of the Mi Mix 2 and the OnePlus 5T.

In terms of features, the Honor V10 is expected to sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Powering the device will be new Kirin 970 chipset which has a dedicated Neural Processing Unit for handling AI tasks. The smartphone is expected to come with 6GB RAM and options for 64GB or 128GB internal storage. It is also likely to borrow the dual rear camera system from its premium flagship with a 16MP primary colour sensor and a 20MP secondary monochrome sensor. Like most recent flagships, it will include features like portrait mode and support 2x digital zoom. The front camera is expected to use a 13MP sensor and will support 1080p video recording.

The Honor V10 is expected to run EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo, but the listing suggests it will launch with Android 7.0 Nougat instead. While Huawei has dropped the 3.5mm headphone jack from its Mate 10 series, it is expected to retain the port on the Honor V10. The successor to the Honor V9 could be priced at 3,000 Yuan (around Rs 30,000) and is expected to arrive as the replacement to Honor 8 Pro in India.
