Huawei introduced EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) file system and GPU Turbo 3.0 technology with its Huawei P30 Pro handset (review). However, the two features were exclusive for the company’s flagship phone and not made available for its other handsets. Now, the smartphone maker has announced that the EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) file system and GPU Turbo 3.0 tech will be made available for its Huawei P30 Lite, Huawei P20 Lite, Huawei Nova3i, Huawei Y9 and some other handsets. Both features are software enhancements, which are aimed at enhancing the capabilities of a Huawei phone.
The EROFS file system is said to offer improved disk performance and speed with claimed increase in random read speeds by about 20 percent while saving 2GB of internal storage space. This is unlike upgraded storage hardware though, like UFS 3.0, which is said to be thrice as fast as UFS 2.1. The new file system configuration is said to deliver higher response rate while reading files like documents, videos or music and could also help lower app boot times. The file system update is slated to hit the aforementioned Huawei smartphones by the end of July.
The new GPU Turbo 3.0 software feature is aimed at enhancing the gaming experience by increasing a device’s performance while gaming. Even though the feature is said to boost gaming performance, it is claimed to lower the power consumption by ten percent. It apparently improves touch response, reduces frame drops and delivers an average frame rate. The company has also revealed mobile gaming titles that are supported by the feature. The list includes Fortnite, Knives Out, Battle Bay, Crazy Taxi, Real Racing 3, Into the Dead 2, NBA 2K19, Dragon Nest M, Duel Links, PES2019, DRAGON, BALL LEGENDS, FIFA Mobile, Free Fire, Minecraft, Helix, Plants vs. Zombie Heroes, Subway Surfers, Brawl Stars, Speed Drifters, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Vainglory, Arena of Valor, Rules of Survival, and NBA 2K18.
