Honor 7 unveiled by Huawei, should be headed to India soon

HIGHLIGHTS

Huawei launched the Honor 7 smartphone in China. The device has a 20MP camera and an all metal body.

Huawei, at a press event in China yesterday, unveiled the next flagship to its Honor range. The company announced the new metal clad Huawei Honor 7. The phone looks very similar to previous Honor phones like the Honor 6 Plus and Honor 6. It features an all aluminum unibody design, very similar to Samsung’s A series of smartphones. It will be available in three shades, Gold, Silver and Grey.

Powering the Honor 7 is Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 935, which is a slightly upgraded version of the Kirin 925 that we saw on the Honor 6 Plus. The new SoC features an octa-core setup using ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture. It has four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz along with four more Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz. Graphics are handled by the Mali-T628 GPU, which seems like an odd choice since many current gen phones are already using the 700 series Mali GPUs. The phone has 3GB of RAM. Currently, the phone will be available with 16GB and 64GB storage options in India.

The Honor 6 Plus offered a great camera and the new Honor 7 tries to top that with its 20MP primary camera with Phase detection Auto Focus and a dual LED flash. At the front the phone gets an 8MP camera. There is also a fingeprint sensor at the back, placed below the camera. The device runs on a 3100mAh battery and the company's own Emotion UI 3.1 is now laid on top of Android Lollipop. It has a 5.2 inch 1080p display.

Honor has been enjoying a warm response till now from the Indian markets and with the upcoming  Honor 7 we believe this will continue. Currently the top of the line, the Honor 6 Plus is priced at Rs. 26,499 and Honor will try to place the new phone near to that price only. The phone will be available in China from July 7. The 16GB variant is priced at CNY 1,999 (Rs. 20,500 approx) and the 64GB variant with dual-SIM in priced at CNY 2,499 (Rs. 25,650 approx). The Honor 7 should be available in India in the coming months
