Huawei rumoured to launch Windows Phone 8-based Ascend W1 on Sep 25
China Huawei’s first Windows Phone 8 device, rumoured as the Ascend W1, is expected to be announced this month, and compete with existing Windows Phone 8 manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and Nokia come November.
When Windows Phone 8 was announced, Microsoft said that four handset manufacturers would launch devices when the OS would launch – Samsung, HTC, Nokia and Huawei. We have already seen Windows Phone 8 devices unveiled from three of the manufacturers with Huawei being the only one left to announce their devices.
According to a Chinese website, winp.cn, Huawei is set to announce its WP8 smartphone line-up on Sept. 25. It is also rumoured that the company will announce two Android powered smartphones along with the WP8 device. The Android smartphones expected are the Ascend P2 and the Ascend D2.
No details about the specifications of the Ascend W1 are known but we can expect it to have a dual core processor, support for NFC along with microSD card support.
HTC, in the meanwhile, unveiled two Windows Phone 8 devices – the 8X and the 8S. You can read the details of the two devices here.
