The Huawei Nova 4 has a 25MP camera sensor on the front and Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0.1.

Huawei has launched its first smartphone with a punch hole camera, the Nova 4, in China. The lower end variant is priced CNY 3,100 ( approx Rs 32,000) and the higher variant will cost users CNY 3,400 (approx Rs 35,000) . The company has launched two variants of the smartphone, out of which the higher-end variant has a 48MP main camera and the other one has a 20MP primary sensor. In both the variants, there is a 25MP front snapper, and both of them run on EMUI 9.0.1 based on the Android 9.0 Pie.

Under the hood, the Nova 4 is fitted with the Kirin 970 processor, the same that the company earlier used in the Huawei P20 Pro. However, the company has coupled 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard memory in both the smartphones. The Huawei Nova 4 has a 3,750mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. As mentioned, the smartphone has a punch hole in the 6.4-inch IPS LCD display, which offers a resolution of 2310×1080 pixels.

The photography responsibilities have been given to a rear triple camera setup, which consists of the 48MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The main camera is mated to a 16MP ultra wide-angle snapper with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The toned-down variant of the Nova 4 comes with a 20MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.8. The other sensors are same as that higher-end variant one.

With this launch, Huawei becomes the second smartphone maker to launch a smartphone with a punch hole camera after Samsung, which launched its Galaxy A8s in China recently. However, the company’s sub-brand has already showcased the Honor View 20 phone with a 48MP rear camera and punch hole front camera. Honor has not revealed complete specifications and features of the phone as it’s global launch is set for January 22, in Paris.

Unlike the Huawei Nova 4, the Honor View20 is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, which is the company’s latest flagship chip with dual ISP and dual NPU. Huawei says that the front camera cutout is 4.5mm in diameter and the new display design is being called Full-View Display 3.0. Honor has also introduced Link Turbo feature which is said to assess network conditions to automatically switch between Wi-Fi or 4G networks.
