Huawei may be planning to launch new smartphones in September 2016. A report by GSMArena states that the company has sent out invites for an event on September 1, a day before IFA 2016 is scheduled to begin. It is not yet known which smartphones Huawei might unveil, but speculations suggest that it can be a successor to the Huawei Mate 8. The Mate 8 phablet was launched in November 2015.
Further, Huawei may also launch a successor to the Mate S smartphone, which was launched at IFA 2015. The smartphone was the first to feature a pressure sensitive display, beating Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in introducing the technology to the market. The phone features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Kirin 935 SoC, with 3GB of RAM.
It is also possible that the company may launch a smartphone that could feature a camera developed in partnership with Leica. Back in April, the company unveiled the Huawei P9, which features dual-12MP cameras with Leica-branded SUMMARIT lenses. The phone sports a 5.2-inch FHD display and runs on an octa-core Kirin 955 SoC with 3GB/4GB of RAM. Earlier this month, we caught wind of the Huawei P9 to be launched in India soon, which would possibly make the P9 Huawei's flagship for India, in the short run.
