The phone might also offer optical zoom and use a system similar to the one found on the Huawei P9.

Huawei may once again partner with Leica for the dual-rear camera setup on its upcoming Mate 9 smartphone. However, according to a report by GizmoChina, the setup will feature Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), which the Huawei P9 did not have. Further, the device might come with optical zoom, which is also said to be a feature on the dual-rear camera setup used on the iPhone 7. While Apple is tipped to use one wide-angle and one telephoto camera in its setup, the Mate 9 is expected to use one camera for colour data, and another for black and white data, and then combine them together. This is similar to the system used on the Huawei P9. The report notes that this setup might also be used in the Huawei Mate S2.

The rear panel and renders of the Huawei Mate 9 were leaked last month. Besides the dual-rear camera setup, the device may come with a USB-C port and a fingerprint sensor located below the rear cameras.

During the launch of the Huawei P9, sources told us that while the Mate 8 was not launched in India, the Mate 9 would. Considering the fact that the Mate 8 was unveiled last year, launching the device in India now would make little sense anyway.
