Huawei has confirmed that it will indeed launch its Mate 10 smartphone on October 16. The confirmation came via a teaser, in which the phone was placed alongside previous flagship smartphones like the P9, Mate 9 and the P10. It also features the tagline #beyondthegalaxy, an obvious dig at Samsung, which launched its first dual-camera smartphone, the Galaxy Note 8, a couple of days ago. Huawei has already sent out media invites for the event, which is scheduled to take place in Munich.
While the company hasn’t revealed any details about the device, a previous teaser video had suggested that the company will continue to offer a Leica-branded dual camera setup. Previous reports have suggested that the phone features a bezel-less design dubbed ‘EntireView’. The phone is tipped to sport a 6.1-inch QHD+ display and is expected to be powered by the company’s own Kirin 970 chipset. The new chipset is expected to be based on the 10nm fabrication process, that would bring it up to par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, and the Exynos 8895 chipsets. The phone is also tipped to offer 6GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage. It is expected to be equipped with a 4000mAh battery and may run Android Nougat.

Huawei already unveiled the P10 and the P10 Plus cameras earlier this year. The phones’ dual-camera setup consists of a 20MP monochrome camera and a 12MP RGB camera. Both feature Leica’s SUMMILUX lenses. While the Huawei P10 comes with a f/2.2 aperture lens, the P10 Plus sports a f/1.8 aperture lens. The phones also comes with a Highlights feature that was developed in partnership with GoPro. It hasn’t been launched in India yet, and it is possible that the company may instead choose to launch the Mate 10 in India.
