Huawei has launched three new Android devices in India, its previously announced 7-inch MediaPad tablet at Rs. 28,359, and two “cloud phones”, the Gingerbread-based Ideos X3 and Sonic, for Rs. 10,229 and Rs. 9,210 respectively. Exact availability has not yet been revealed.
The Huawei MediaPad was launched a while back as the world’s first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet, running Android 3.2 on a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm chipset. For more details about the MediaPad’s specifications, refer to our previous coverage.
Huawei is calling the 3.2-inch Ideos X3 and 3.5-inch Sonic cloud phones because of the Cloud service the Chinese telecommunications giant will be launching for them in the country. According to Anand Narang, MD Huawei Devices, Cloud features include 16GB of cloud storage, an integrated social phonebook, richer messaging, and phone finder services. Both devices will also come bundled with various social networking and instant messaging apps, such as Twitter, Facebook , etc.
Despite running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, as well as its cloud storage features, the Huawei Ideos X3 and Sonic are still low-end budget devices on the inside – with 600MHz processors, 256MB of RAM, 3.2MP cameras and low-resolution displays (320×480 pixels). The two devices will certainly face stiff competition out there. The devices can be procured with an Aircel operator bundle, including 3GB of free downloads.
