Chinese smartphone maker Huawei today launched the Huawei P8 smartphone at an event in Bangkok. The device sports flagship level specifications and runs on Huawei’s in-house Kirin 930 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, which is an upgrade to the Kirin 920 that powers the current Honor 6 Plus smartphone. According to Wang Guodong, President, Huawei India Device Business Department, the phone should cost around Rs. 30,000 when it is launched in India.
The Huawei P8 is going to be a flagship device, which will be launched at around Rs. 30,000.
In addition, the P8 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display, along with 3GB of RAM and 16/64GB storage options, which can be extended to 128GB via a microSD card. The P8 also runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, layered of course with Huawei’s own Emotion UI. It has a 13MP rear camera, accompanied by an 8MP front camera and 2680 mAh battery.
Furthermore, the company has also announced the P8 Lite and P8 Max devices. While the P8 Lite is a budget device, the P8 Max is a 6.8 inch tablet-cum-phone.
The Huawei P8 Max is basically a tablet with the calling function.
The P8 Lite runs on a 1.2 GHz quad-core Kirin 620 SoC and has 2GB of RAM. The P8 Max on the other hand, runs on a 2.3GHz Kirin 935 processor and 3GB RAM. Both the devices run on Android 5.0.2 and have 13MP rear cameras.
The Huawei P8 Lite will be a lower end smartphone.
The P8 phones were also followed by the Mediapad X2 tablet and two wearables. These include the Huawei Talkband B2 and the Huawei Watch W1. All of these devices will be brought to India soon.
