Huawei Honor to launch in India at Rs. 19,990

Huawei is set to launch its Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based smartphone Honor in India soon. The Huawei smartphone has been spotted at the online shopping site Flipkart with a price tag of Rs. 19,990. The website currently displays the device as “out of stock”; however it’s likely the shipping would commence next week onwards.

To refresh your memory, the Huawei Honor U8860 is a single-core smartphone and is slated to get the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update soon after release. The Huawei Honor U8860 sports a 4-inch display, 8MP rear camera, 0.3MP front facing camera, 1GB built-in storage, up to 32GB expandable storage using microSD card. It comes with a 1,900 mAh battery. For connectivity, the device supports 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, EDR and microUSB v2.0.

The Huawei Honor, introduced in September last year, is likely to be pitted against HTC’s latest One X and the likes of Samsung Galaxy S Plus and LG Optimus 2x. The other smartphones falling in the same price bracket, include the LG Optimus Black, the Xperia Active and the Xperia Pro. The device was previously rumoured to launch in February with the latest ICS update. The Honor was then touted as the first smartphone in India to run the latest Android platform.
