HTC is rumoured to be manufacturing this year’s Nexus devices and the specifications of one of these (codenamed ‘Sailfish’) were leaked by Android Police. The phone is speculated to be the successor to the Nexus 5X and the report says it may sport a 5-inch Full HD display along with an unknown quad-core processor, clocked at 2.0GHz. It is also tipped to offer 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, along with 12MP and 8MP cameras. It is expected to sport a 2770mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port and speakers on the bottom. Unlike LeEco, Motorola and possibly even Apple, Google and HTC may choose to stick with the 3.5mm headphone jack instead of removing it from the device.
HTC is rumoured to be making both Nexus devices this year with the higher variant tipped to be codenamed, Marlin. In fact, it is reported that the company may be making Nexus smartphones for three years. HTC was the company which made the Nexus One, as well as the Nexus 9 Tablet. However, earlier this month, Charlene Munilall, Huawei’s GM of Consumer Business in South Africa, claimed that it was going to manufacture the next Nexus device. Huawei currently manufactures the flagship of the Nexus line, the Nexus 6P.
