Android 8.0 Oreo is an incremental upgrade over Android 7.0 Nougat and the search giant has mostly focused on system level improvement with this iteration. It brings new features like notification dots, support for Autofill APIs, Picture in Picture (PiP) mode, adaptive icons, Google Play protect and support for high fidelity audio playback with new Bluetooth codecs. Android 8.0 Oreo users will notice faster boot speed and Google claimed that Pixel users will notice 2x faster boot times that. Android Oreo also brings improved battery life with background app limitations and it is expected to get better with the release of Android 8.1 Oreo. The update also brings 60 new redesigned emojis and even support for XML fonts.

Android 8.0 Oreo has already started appearing in Android distribution numbers for the past two months and the latest data shows that the software is being actively used by 0.3 percent of Android users. The update is also expected to roll out to phones from HMD Global, OnePlus and Samsung in the coming weeks.
