HTC has confirmed that the U11, U Ultra and HTC 10 will get Android 8.0 Oreo in the coming months. The HTC U11 is getting a new software update with support for 1080p video recording at 60fps.

HTC has started rolling out a new update for its flagship U11 smartphone. The update christened as version 1.27.400.9 weighs in at around 665MB and it brings new enhancements to the handset. The biggest addition is the support for 1080p video recording at 60 frames per second, a feature that was announced at the time of the launch.

The new update also brings latest Android security patch for the month of August and some system level enhancements. The update seems to be hitting U11 users in Hong Kong and should roll out in other markets as well. Earlier, HTC had confirmed that the update will be available in the coming months and it seems like a phased roll out.

HTC has also confirmed that Android 8.0 Oreo update will be available to owners of U11, U Ultra and last year's HTC 10 smartphones worldwide. The company confirmed the details on Twitter but didn't share the exact timeline of the availability. HTC is one of the few smartphone OEMs which claims to offer software update within 90 days of general availability.

To recall, the HTC U11 was announced in May as the first smartphone from the Taiwanese company to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. The handset features a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and frame embedded sensors for squeezable actions. The smartphone is available in two storage options: 4GB RAM variant with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM variant with 128GB internal storage.

The handset features a 12MP phase detect autofocus rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilisation and dual tone LED flash. It gets a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording. The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery and is available in five different colours. Read our full review here.
