HTC is all set to launch ite new U Ultra smartphone in India today. The U series is a brand new series of smartphones that was unveiled by the company in January. The launch event of the smartphone is being held in New Delhi, but anyone can view the event live on the HTC India’s official Facebook page from 3:30 pm onwards. While the U Ultra was unveiled alongside a cheaper version called the U Play, it is unlikely that the latter will be launched in India today. However, the smartphone has been listed on the company's Indian website and HTC might be planning to launch it at a later event.

Unlike the HTC 10, which had an all metal design, the HTC U Ultra sports glass and metal build. It features a 5.7-inch Super LCD 5 display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with 4GB of RAM. It is equipped with a 3000mAh battery and offers 64GB of unbuilt storage that can be expanded via a microSD card. At the back of the device is a 12MP UltraPixel camera, similar to the one found on the HTC 10. This comes with a f/1.8 aperture lens, PDAF and laser focus, and Optical Image Stabilization. At the front is a 16MP camera with an UltraPixel mode that is aimed at low-light selfies.

The HTC U Ultra comes with Android Nougat v7.0 as well as an assistant based on machine learning technology. Called the Sense Companion, HTC claims that it will learn the user's behavior over time and deliver prioritised notifications. The smartphone also comes with USonic technology which analyses the user’s inner ear through a sonic pulse and then delivers audio based on what it finds out. It should be noted that the HTC U Ultra does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Price of the HTC U Ultra in India is not yet known, but in the UK, the smartphone is priced at £649, which is approximately Rs. 54,100. So expect the smartphone to be similarly priced in the country.
