HTC U Ocean, the third smartphone in HTC's U series has leaked once again. The product image posted by Evan Blass reveals metal and glass design with front-mounted fingerprint sensor. The design seems reminiscent of recently launched HTC U Ultra and HTC-made Google Pixel.
HTC U Ocean is likely to be Taiwanese smartphone maker's bet to script a turnaround in its smartphone business. The smartphone is tipped to feature Edge Sense, a new method of interacting with smartphones. The HTC U Ocean is rumoured to be equipped with sensors on its metal strip which will allow users to access a variety of features like launching the camera, HTC Sense Companion and more.
The smartphone codenamed Ocean is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display with WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset will run Android 7.1 Nougat with Sense 9 based customisation for new user interface. HTC U will be powered by Snapdragon 835 and offer 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor on the back and 16MP IMX351 up front.
HTC recently announced U Ultra with Snapdragon 821 to fill the void left by unavailability of Snapdragon 835 chipset. With HTC U Ocean, HTC will once again be in contention to take on Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ but it'll all depend on whether the Edge Sense is a compelling experience or just another smartphone gimmick. HTC U Ocean is expected to debut sometime this month and retail release expected in May.
