HTC U 11 with frame-embedded sensors and gesture support will launch on May 16
HTC is all set to announce its next flagship smartphone dubbed 'HTC U 11' on May 16. Ahead of the official announcement, the company has put out a new teaser claiming the handset will be able to do "360 real-life recording." The company doesn't explain what this means, but seems like it will be some kind of 360-degree video recording.
HTC U 11 is seen as an effort to bridge the past and present flagship naming scheme. The device is likely to feature frame-embedded sensors allowing users to interact with their device by either squeezing the edges or swiping across it. The leaked renders suggest the device not have a 3.5mm audio jack, but feature a metal and glass design similar to the HTC U Ultra.

The handset has appeared in several benchmarking platforms and will likely sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with Snapdragon 835 processor. The device is tipped to offer 4GB RAM, with the option for either 64GB or 128GB storage. In terms of camera, the device is expected to sport a single 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera.
The smartphone will run HTC Sense 9 skin based on Android 7.1 Nougat. The Sense 9 UI is said to offer deep support for native apps and gesture control. There isn't much clarity as to how this new gesture-based UI will work or what apps will support the feature at the time of launch. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long for the to know all that.
