According to reports, HTC is going to unveil its M7 phablet at the upcoming CES 2013 not at the MWC event, as rumoured earlier.

HTC may showcase its M7 phablet earlier than expected. According to reports on the web, HTC is likely to showcase the device at the forthcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 event, slated to begin next week. The M7 was earlier rumoured to be showcased at the MWC event.

The latest M7 rumours were triggered by a tipster called @Football4PDA, who tweeted: “By some indirect information M7 might be announced on CES event. Moreover it might have screen buttons instead of hardware touch buttons…”

The tipster also claims the HTC M7 will be featuring on-screen Android navigation buttons, doing away with the traditional hardware buttons on the HTC devices.

The HTC M7 is believed to be the company’s next flagship smartphone. The rumoured specifications of the device include a 4.7-inch SoLux display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 2300mAh battery, 32GB of built-in storage and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Also considered as the successor to the One X, the M7 reportedly features next-gen Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, which is said to be up to three times faster than current 802.11n Wi-Fi chips.

The upcoming CES is likely to see some big announcements from the top players. While Huawei is reportedly unveiling W1, Ascend D1 and Ascend Mate devices, Sony is likely to showcase its Xperia Z and ZL. LG is going to show off high-resolution displays ranging from a mere 4.7-inches up to 84-inch behemoths. You can read our previous coverage on the upcoming CES 2013 here.
