HTC One X reportedly struggling with Wi-Fi death grip issues
Since its launch, a few unfortunate owners of the HTC One X have complained of Wi-Fi and or display issues, and while a software update has fixed most of the connectivity problems, some users still report a Wi-Fi death grip issue.
Similar to the iPhone 4’s infamous voice and data death grip issue, the alleged issue affecting certain HTC One X devices is documented on XDA Developer’s site, as the ‘HTC One X Wi-Fi antenna loose connection fault’, with model numbers HT23 and HT24 the most common identified problem-dealing handsets.
We’ve also heard the HTC One X units manufactured in Taiwan are the only ones facing the problem, not the ones manufactured in China, though statistics have yet to back up that claim.
Unlike Apple and its stance to the iPhone 4’s problems however (where Jobs had told customers to hold the phone correctly), HTC has acknowledged the issue, and is reportedly keen to address it, based on user feedback.
Affected users with the One X under warranty can freely claim a replacement. Right now, an XDA Developer member called Bigoliver has reportedly posted a hardware fix to the problem, a relatively complicated method that includes tape and soldering.
