HTC One Mini 2 goes official with 4.5-inch display, 13MP camera
Featuring a 4.5-inch 720p display, Sense 6, quad-core processor, and 5MP front-facing camera, the HTC One mini 2 seems to be a good deal in mid-range segment.
HTC has officially announced mini variant of its flagship smartphone – One Mini 2. The smartphone follows the same design pattern of its bigger brother, featuring a curved metal back and Gray, Silver, and Gold colour options. The One Mini 2, however, is a major upgrade over the 2013 version.
The new One Mini 2 sports a 4.5-inch display 720p resolution (326 ppi pixel density). It is slightly larger than its predecessor as the One Mini 2 measures 137 x 65 x 10.6mm and weighs around 137 grams. The 2013 One Mini sports a 4.3-inch 720 display and measures 132 x 63.2 x 9.25mm and weighs 122g.
The HTC One Mini 2 runs “Sense 6” version of Android 4.2.2 KitKat, which is also present on the One M8. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset featuring a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU, 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 305 GPU. There’s 16GB built-in storage, supports expansion up to 128 GB to the microSD card slot.
The One Mini 2 abandons HTC’s ‘Ultrapixel’ and instead features a conventional 13MP camera with BSI sensor and f/2.2 lens. There’s a 5MP front facing camera, which also comes with a “Touch Up software for subtle beauty enhancements that smoothens skin, eliminates red eye and adjusts facial contours, while preserving natural looks.” Other notable features of the One Mini 2 include BlinkFeed and BoomSound.
“The latest member of the award-winning HTC One family distills the advanced features that have earned it global acclaim, into an elegant, compact handset,” says Peter Chou, CEO of HTC. “Its size and tapered edges fit perfectly in a hand, pocket or purse, making it look great and feel even better to use. It’s the perfect choice for those who love the iconic design of the HTC One (M8) yet want something more compact.”
HTC says its One mini 2 will arrive in EMEA and Asia starting in June 2014 with availability varying by country and region.
