Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has confirmed that its flagship smartphone, the HTC One (M8) and its predecessor, the HTC One (M7), will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update within 90 days from November 3. The company has confirmed that it has obtained the final version of the Android 5.0 code from Google and can now start working on official updates for the devices. This would mean that the expected update date would be sometime in February 2015.

Surprisingly, the Android 5.0 update will not come with a new version of the Sense UI. Instead, the Sense 6 UI will prevail, but with the material design touch to it. Full details will obviously be available at a later date, once HTC is ready with the update.

Further, the company has also said that details for its other handsets will be announced soon. We expect that devices like the HTC One (E8), HTC One (M8) Eye and the new smartphones in the Desire series should get the updates as well. In addition, since the HTC One (M7) is getting the update, so should the One Max and One Mini.
