HTC is expected to unveil a new flagship codenamed ‘Ocean’ in April and the device is tipped to come with ‘Edge Sense’ which allows the user to interact with the smartphone via the frame. Now Android Headlines claims to have gotten more details about the Edge Sense as well as other features of the upcoming smartphone. According to its report, the sensors will be placed closer to the bottom of the device and will allow users to access a variety of features like launching the camera, HTC Sense Companion and more. Further, the report also states that when setting up the feature, users will get the option to configure the sensitivity of their grip.
Further, the HTC Ocean is tipped to offer enhanced video and audio recording features such as HDR+, Smart Video Zoom, 3D Audio and Hi-Res Recording. The device is expected to come with four microphones for recording audio, with 3D Audio recording set as default. This is aimed at adding surround sound to recordings, while the Hi-Res mode is expected to offer lossless sound to recordings. Other features of the phone include BoomSound and USonic, the latter of which was introduced with HTC’s U series of phones.
As for specifications, the HTC Ocean is tipped to features a 5.5-inch WQHD display and may be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 platform. It is expected to come with Android Nougat v7.1 out of the box and may be equipped with a 3000mAh battery. The device may be available in two variants, one with 4GB RAM/64GB storage and the other with 6GB RAM/128GB storage. While the current leak does not give out any details about the camera, a previous leak has suggested that the phone might offer a 12MP rear, and 16MP front camera.
A few days back, Twitter use, I Love Htc Thailand posted a picture said to be of the HTC Ocean. The images show the device in Dark Red and there doesn’t seem to be any 3.5mm audio port. This suggests that the upcoming device may use the USB Type-C port for audio.
