‘HTC First’ Facebook phone image leaked online
Images of the HTC-powered Facebook phone have leaked online. Rumoured specifications include a 4.3-inch display, Snapdragon S4 processor and a 5MP camera.
Facebook is holding an event on Thursday where the social networking giant will show off its “New Home on Android.” Information circulating the Internet suggests that a Facebook centric smartphone will be unveiled at the event. Now, a leaked image has appeared online which showcases the smartphone.
Rumoured to be called HTC First, the smartphone is expected to house a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Under the hood, a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU, the same processor that is powering the Samsung Galaxy S III, will power the HTC First. The First is also expected to have 1GB of RAM. The rear of the smartphone will house a 5MP camera. The OS is expected to be Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with the HTC Sense UI version 4.5 overlaying it. The skin is expected to have a deeper integration with Facebook.
This isn’t the first time that a rumour has erupted online about an HTC-powered Facebook phone. The closest this rumour has gotten to reality is with the HTC ChaCha and Salsa phones that had a physical Facebook button to interact with the social networking site.
Facebook already has a heavy integration with the Android and iOS ecosystem not only to access the social networking site but also with third party apps. The question still remains whether we need a dedicated Facebook phone and what unique features will it bring to the table.
