HTC's event next month is rumoured to see the official unveiling of the HTC One M8 Eye, a photo-centric variant of the flagship M8 smartphone.

Details about a new HTC smartphone – codenamed Eye – have leaked. According to rumours, the HTC Eye also known as HTC One M8 Eye will be showcased at the HTC's much hyped October 8 event. Information about the HTC Eye comes via the leaker @upleaks on Twitter.

According to the leak, the HTC Eye sports a 5.2-inch display with full HD resolution and pixel density of 423 ppi. The smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor with quad-core Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU. The smartphone will have 13MP duo-camera set up. Other details about the smartphone aren't out as yet.

HTC M8_EYE's hardware is almost the same as original M8, like HTC One M8 for Windows. It also has 0P6B model number.

HTC has already teased a camera-centric announcement at the October 8 event. According to reports, the new smartphone will be very similar to the flagship M8, but will feature improved camera, especially the front-facing ones to woo the selfie-lovers.

The company is also being rumoured to be working on a GoPro-like waterproof camera.

HTC has been making all out efforts to compete in the high end smartphone segment. It has already launched a Windows Phone version of its flagship smartphone One M8. According to reports, the company may launch another variant of the M8 with Android L out of the box.

The new leak comes amid reports of HTC reportedly planning to launch a new smartwatch, which will be released in early 2015. According to reports, HTC aims to develop a smartwatch that stands out from the crowd. Citing sources familiar with HTC plans, the reports further say the smartphone will have “elements of design and features” that will attract more consumers.
