HTC Desire U and XDS available for Rs. 13,499 and Rs. 16,089 respectively
Both the HTC Desire U and Desire XDS boast of dual-SIM capabilities and run on the Android OS.
Two HTC mid-range smartphones, the Desire XDS and Desire U have made an appearance online. Both the smartphones are available on Indian online shopping websites. They run on Android 4.0 ICS, which is a little disappointing since we have smartphones in the same price range running Jelly Bean.
The HTC Desire XDS is listed on Saholic.com for Rs. 16,089. The smartphone is very reminiscent of the HTC Desire X in terms of looks. The XDS has a 4-inch Super LCD display with a 480×800 pixel resolution. The rear of the smartphone has a 5MP shooter and it compromises on a front facing camera. Under the hood, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor powers the smartphone along with 768MB of RAM.
In terms of its connectivity option, the Desire XDS boasts of 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS / aGPS. A 1650mAh battery powers the device. On the downside it runs on Android 4.0 ICS in a day and age dominated by Jelly Bean powered devices. The smartphone is 9.32mm thick and weighs 119 grams.
Moving on to the HTC Desire U, the smartphone is listed on Flipkart.com for Rs. 13,499. Originally announced in January 2013, the Desire U has a 4-inch display with a 480×800 display resolution. Under the hood, it has a 1GHz processor along with 512MB of RAM. It sports 4GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD. The rear of the smartphone has a 5MP camera. The package is powered by a 1650mAh battery and in terms of connectivity options; the Desire U supports 3G, Wi-Fi 820.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The smartphone runs on Android 4.0 ICS along with the Sense UI. The smartphone also features Beats Audio integration.
HTC seems to be going the Samsung way with the launch of a bunch of homogenous smartphones in a variety of price brackets. Recently HTC launched its flagship HTC One smartphone in India.
