HTC has introduced a new Android smartphone under its Desire lineup. Called the Desire 616, the new HTC smartphone supports dual-SIM and features a 1.4 GHz octa-core MediaTek processor. HTC had introduced the smartphone in China over the weekend and now it's reportedly available in North Asia, South Asia, China and Russia as well.
The HTC Desire 616 sports a 5-inch 720p display. The smartphone has an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. It comes with 4GB of built-in storage, supports microSD card for additional storage. The smartphone runs Android custom with Sense 5.5 and Blinkfeed.
HTC has announced the Singapore pricing of the phone – S$298 (US$238), which seems to be okay for a mid-range smartphone. According to reports, the smartphone is likely to be launched in India very soon.
HTC's new phone comes shortly after the company launched a plastic version of the flagship smartphone – called the HTC One E8. While HTC is focussing on premium smartphone segment, it is also expanding its offering in mid-range and budget segments.
