HTC chairman unable to contain excitement; shows off M7 at year-end party
This just goes on to show two things - 1. How confident HTC is about the M7 reviving its fortunes in the Android smartphone market and 2. That HTC was actually worried about the slide its market image had taken of late. To the M7, it is!
In what was a rather surprise move, HTC chairman Peter Chou showed off the upcoming M7 smartphone at the company’s year-end party in Taipei. No, don’t get us wrong, because you are reading it correctly and we have written it in our full senses! Back to the party, and the excitement was there for everyone to see, and a lot of “M7! M7! M7! HTC! HTC! HTC One!” chants filling up the place.
HTC honcho took to the stage and immediately thanked the development team working on the M7, before proceeding to pull one out from his coat pocket. He then went on to take some pictures with the phone. “This event today is a great opportunity for testing (the camera). I was still testing it just now,” Chou is reported to have said in NextTV’s clip. Speaking of which, you can skip to around the 48 second mark to see Chou pull out the M7.
We cannot see much of the phone, except the white (some are calling it grey) back cover. We have been treated to quite a few HTC M7 leaks over the last month or so. It is expected that the M7 will have a 4.7-inch screen, and a polycarbonate body with the soft texture finish, similar to the HTC 8X and now the HTC Butterfly. It is expected that the M7 will come out of the box with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and will have the Sense 5.0 UI on top of the OS.
HTC is supposed to officially take the cover off the phone at the launch event in New York on February 19. Click the source link to watch the video.
