HTC announces mid-range One SV smartphone with 4G LTE

HTC has announced that its mid-range Android smartphone, the One SV, will be available in the UK in the coming weeks. No pricing of the smartphone was announced however.

“The HTC One SV heralds the next generation of smartphone performance and lightning fast mobile Internet,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC. “We’re delighted to help fuel the spread of 4G LTE networks worldwide with models that enable our customers to enjoy web browsing, movie streaming and Internet radio more quickly and more smoothly than ever before.”

The HTC SV has a 4.3-inch Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. It runs on Android 4.0 and is skinned with HTC’s Sense UI. It has a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and 1GB of RAM. 8GB built-in storage finds its way onto the device and it can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. Just like the plethora of other HTC smartphones, the One SV comes with Beats Audio sound enhancement.

The smartphone also supports 4G LTE with HSDPA speeds up to 42Mbps. The rear of the smartphone houses a 5MP camera with the ability to shoot video in 1080p HD. The front has a 1.6MP camera. You also get cloud storage of 25GB via Dropbox.

Whether the smartphone will be launched in other markets apart from the US still remains to be seen. HTC also has the Desire C, a budget phone running Android 4.0 ICS.
