HTC 606w dual-SIM Android smartphone leaked with UltraPixel camera
HIGHLIGHTS

HTC is said to be working on a new phone that will house an UltraPixel camera and a 4.3-inch screen. Oh! And it will run Android.

Sources have revealed that HTC is already working on a new Android smartphone that will, not too surprisingly, feature an UltraPixel camera. The phone, for now, it seems has been dubbed the HTC 606w, and is thought to be the device previously rumoured as the HTC M4. The phone was spotted when it was recently approved by the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Centre in China.

The Android 4.1-based HTC 606w is said to house a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor along with the Adreno 305 graphics chip paired up with a relatively large 1GB of RAM (the same chipset as the HTC First). It is also said to feature a 4.3 inch 720p display, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS GLONASS connectivity. The phone will also sport 16GB of on-board storage, although there is no word on whether it will also have a microSD slot for expansion.

While the main hardware specs remain fairly powerful, rumours suggest that the Ultrapixel camera will be based on a 1.6 megapixel sensor which would allow it to capture great quality images. Interestingly, there are also talks that the phone will wield a dual-SIM configuration, meaning it could be pegged as a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Grand.

Thanks to the leaked image (seen below) of the HTC 606w, we can see that there seem to be some remnants of the HTC First’s design here (the Facebook phone), with a blue streak running around the screen, and the top and bottom bits housing the speaker grill. Word is that the phone will also ship with BoomSound technology just like the HTC One.

While rumours of the HTC 606w are quite exciting, we’d much rather wait for an official announcement from HTC to get a word on what the phone will actually ship with and when! The HTC 606w is expected to ship in China in the coming weeks, and see a global rollout soon after.
