HTC 10 evo announced with Android 7.0 Nougat and no headphone jack

The HTC 10 evo brings IP57 water resistance and dust proofing to a smartphone with relatively dated specifications

HTC 10 evo is the Bolt for rest of the world. HTC is announcing 10 evo today as the international variant of HTC Bolt, the Sprint exclusive smartphone announced recently. HTC 10 evo has the same design and features as the Bolt, bringing water resistance and will be available globally starting this month in gunmetal, silver and gold colour variants.

HTC 10 evo continues to use full metal unibody design but it is the first smartphone to get waterproof body. The HTC 10 evo brings IP57 water resistance and dust proofing to a smartphone with relatively dated specifications. The HTC 10 evo gets the same Quad HD Super LCD 3 panel available on HTC 10 but the display is slightly larger at 5.5-inches. The display is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 with curve edge.

Under the hood, HTC 10 evo gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage. HTC 10 features a 16MP optically stabilised image sensor with f/2.0 aperture. There is dual LED flash with auto HDR and HTC's proprietary Zoe capture. The front camera is an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture and auto selfie mode.

HTC 10 evo comes with ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, motion sensor, gyroscope, compass. There is also a fingerprint sensor embedded with the home button. The smartphone supports NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac and Cat 6 LTE with download speed up to 300 Mbps.

HTC 10 houses a 3200mAh battery and supports 2015's Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The smartphone also drops 3.5mm headphone jack in favour of USB-C connected headphones. HTC 10 evo makes up for its older specifications with latest Android 7.0 Nougat. HTC is hosting an event in India on Thursday and might announce the device alongside Desire 10 Pro smartphone.
