HP Palm’s unofficial webOS 2.0 preview hits the web [video & images]
A video of webOS 2.0 in action has been leaked out, presumably by one of its developers. While HP might not be too happy about it, all the big companies will pretty much have to get used to this new kind of publicity, assuming of course they are not all in the same sieve. Leaking software previews ahead of time sure does generate interest, but invariably, the products fall flat if they aren’t backed up by solid hardware, and, a great working combination. Case in point is the BlackBerry Torch and its new BlackBerry 6 OS, which surely did get everyone excited, but disappointed many when it was finally released. On the contrary, the iPhone 4 was leaked to death, but still made a huge bang when it arrived, no matter if the hardware was leaked first, then the OS with numerous screenshots and APIs.
However, just like the butterfly effect, no one can be sure what events will occur from the resulting cascade, or in other words, just how successful webOS 2.0 will be in the face of the rather aggressive competition, or whether it can ever warrant the Hurricane appellation. Check out the video below though, as well as some previously leaked screenshots, to get an idea of what exactly HP bought Palm for:
