HP’s next consumer focused Windows Phone might launch at MWC

Do you really need a $600 Windows 10 Mobile flagship?

HP is reportedly working on a new Windows Phone targeted towards consumers. HP's Elite x3 is the most recent Windows 10 Mobile handset and it packs a lot of punch. HP Elite x3 with its 5.96-inch display and Continuum makes it the perfect business friendly smartphone.

According to report from German Windows site Dr Windows, HP is closely with Microsoft for its next Windows flagship. The report claims the device will inherit the best of Lumia technologies like ClearBlack screens and Glance feature. The report also claims that the device could arrive at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and the device could be jointly announced by Microsoft and HP.

Windows 10 Mobile with its negligible 1 percent market share is nearly dead and there is little or no activity around the platform from app developers. While the platform looks lucrative to business users thanks to the Windows ecosystem and apps like Salesforce make a compelling option to enterprise users.

Microsoft recently announced plans to bring an x86 emulator to ARM platform and we could see a glimpse of that with HP's next Windows Mobile device. The most important question for consumers would be whether they are willing to spend $600-800 (price equivalent to iPhone 7 and Google Pixel) for a smartphone running Windows 10 Mobile.
