The much awaited live stream of Microsoft's Windows 10 for phones event is scheduled for 7.30pm IST today. The company is expected to announced the Lumia 950 and 950 XL smartphones, both running Windows 10. In addition, the Surface 4 and Surface Pro 4 tablets are also expected to be announced at the event. Microsoft is going to live stream its event here.
The company had earlier showcased Windows 10 running on phones and tablets, but this will be the first time Microsoft details all the features of the OS for mobile devices. The new version of Windows, which was launched for PCs back in June this year, has been pretty well received so far, and has been touted as Microsoft's biggest Windows launch till date. Windows 10 was made available for free to users, taking Microsoft completely into the services model that its CEO Satya Nadella has often talked about.
Microsoft has reported very fast adoption rates for Windows 10, but the company took its time with the mobile version of its OS. While PCs have always been Microsoft's forte, the company has failed to capitalise on the huge mobile market all over the world. With Windows 10, the company has also announced that it will be making lesser smartphones every year.
While you wait for the live stream to start, here's everything to expect from today's Microsoft Windows 10 event.
