OnePlus has announced the Android Q Developer Preview 2 for OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro users. The first developer preview went live last month. Before you decide to install the Android Q Developer Preview 2 for OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, please note that there is a risk of bricking your phone. It's always better to back up your data before installing a developer preview on your smartphone.
Before we begin, know that there are some known issues in the developer preview of Android Q for the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro.
- Reading mode doesn't work
- Display mode doesn't work
- The verification window can't pop up in WIFI anonymous connection
- Low probability of having stability issues
Now before installing the Android Q Developer Preview, users need to ensure that the battery level of the smartphone is above 30 percent and the it has minimum 3GB storage available. Also, please note that MP version = Stable official version and DP version = Developer Preview version.
MP to DP upgrade guide—via Local OTA Update
This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup the device first.
- Users need to first download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server (link below).
- Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage using the USB cable.
- Then users need to go to the Settings > System > System Updates > Click top right icon > Local upgrade > Click on the installation package > upgrade
- Click restart after the upgrade is complete.
- The phone will boot into recovery mode to format user data, it will reboot again after formatting.
- Voila! You have the new OS.
DP to MP rollback guide – via Local OTA update
- Users should know that this upgrade method will also erase all the contents of the phone.
- Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server (link below).
- The rest of the steps are the same as above.
