Honor’s new concept phone may feature modular design, curved display
Huawei is tipped to unveil the new smartphone in China, today.
Huawei seems set to launch a concept phone, as GizmoChina reports. The company is planning launch a new concept phone under the Honor brand today. Details of the device are not yet known, but the report suggests that the device may not come with standard components like a camera, or a speaker. Instead, those parts may be offered as accessories. This sounds like a modular smartphone, similar to the Moto Z. The report also claims that the device may have a curved display and feature fast charging standards capable of charging the device up to 50 percent in five minutes.
If the phone does feature a modular design, it would be the third such device to launch this year following the LG G5 and the Moto Z. Out of these two, the G5 seem didn’t do so well in the market and LG is tipped to ditch the modular design altogether with its next flagship, the G6. The Moto Z, meanwhile, has done pretty well in comparison, and offers three different smartphones in the series as well as multiple Moto Mods to choose from. Google's attempt at a modular smartphone, Project Ara, was expected to launch this year. However, the company has since pulled funding for the device, after years of research and development.
