Until now, the Huawei View 20 smartphone's design was kept under the wraps but it has now started to leak in bits and pieces, in China. An image of a smartphone, which is claimed to be of the Huawei View 20, is making rounds on the internet. The image popped up on Weibo and the phone with a punch-hole camera can be seen in a retail box. This leaked image suggests that the company might be handing over the devices to beta users, developers, or social media influencers.
The development comes a day after its AnTuTu benchmark scores were published. The Honor View 20 running on Kirin 980 processor, supplemented with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage with pre-installed EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 scored 290,000 points on the benchmark. Apart from the retail box image and AnTuTu scores, three official teaser images were also released.
Honor uploaded these images on Weibo showing three birds of different colours. What’s interesting about these images is the depiction of the punch-hole camera as an eye of the bird. The different coloured birds might be hinting at the various colour models the phone is expected to be released in. The colours models could be Blue, Gray and Red. The phone is expected to run on EMUI 9.0 out of the box.
Honor unveiled its Honor View20 smartphone at an event in Hong Kong. The smartphone comes with “three world-first technologies,” which are – a 48MP rear camera, an All-View Display and the Link Turbo feature to help boost network speeds. The smartphone is expected to be powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, which is the company’s latest flagship chip. Honor said that the display area on the View 20 extends to “almost” 100 percent.
Although Huawei (or its sub-brand Honor) may not be the first company to officially launch a smartphone with punch-hole camera, but according to the company, it was the first to showcase the technology. Honor View 20 was showcased in Hong Kong and will officially launch on December 26 in China. It will later be released for other global markets in January.
