Honor, the e-brand of Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei is expected to dual rear-camera based Honor 6X smartphone in India on December 23. The company has started sending media invites for an event on December 23 where it is likely to launch the new mid-range smartphone.

Honor 6X was first showcased in China in October and the smartphone was the latest in the series of Huawei devices to sport dual rear camera setup. The smartphone acts as an extension to company's new initiative to bring technologies available on its premium smartphones down to mid-budget offerings. Honor 6X features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display and it is powered by company's own Kirin 655 processor.

In China, Honor 6X was announced in three different memory variants – 3GB RAM variant with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM variant with 32/64GB storage. The Dual SIM smartphone offers expandable storage up to 256GB via hybrid SIM slot.

Honor 6X's USP is definitely the dual rear camera setup. The primary camera here is a combination of 12 + 2MP image sensor. The 12MP image sensor is used for shooting pictures while the additional 2MP sensor is used to capture additional data like depth. The smartphone supports option to refocus images once shot thanks to the additional depth sensing. The primary camera supports phase detection autofocus and LED flash. There is also an 8MP front facing camera for capturing selfies.

Honor 6X houses a 3340mAh battery and supports company's own fast charging technology. Honor 6X features an all-metal unibody design and was announced at a starting price of 999 Yuan (approximately Rs 10,000).
