In another case of exploding phones, where all the evidence has not yet come in, a Samsung Galaxy S4 is thought to be responsible for burning a house down in Hong Kong.

According to reports, a Hong Kong resident’s Samsung Galaxy S4 was the cause of a house fire. The Korean consumer electronics giant’s flagship smartphone was being used for gaming when connected to an emergency battery charger, as there was no electricity.

The owner, Mr. Du, a resident of Shan Tseng Tau, reportedly heard a loud pop while gaming, and fearing the worst was about to happen, supposedly threw the Galaxy S4 away from his person. Unluckily enough, the device landed on a flammable couch, which led to the whole house then proceeding to go up in flames.

Mr. Du apparently only suffered minor burns, and his wife also supposedly escaped with only minor injuries. The entire apartment complex was also evacuated because of the possibility of the fire spreading.

According to Mr. Du, only a genuine emergency battery charger was used with the genuine Galaxy S4, and so after-market unauthorized accessories are not thought to be the cause of the device exploding. Mr. Du reportedly has been using the charger for a while, with no previous incidents.

Samsung’s Hong Kong concern said it was investigating the incident, and that chemical analysis should be able to prove whether all the products involved were Samsung original.
