It seems that the Barbie fever has not died down at the HMD office.
At the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2024, many companies are sharing their future plans with us. Throughout the week, I have been sharing stuff straight from Barcelona, some intriguing, while others were just basic. And I am here again today with another update from HMD. They have teased the arrival of three new smartphones. And the smartphones sound quite intriguing, not your usual lot. Let’s see what the brand has in store for us.
During the MWC 2024, HMD teased their first self-branded phone. Up until now, the brand was known as the largest manufacturer of Nokia. It is all set to release three cool smartphones this year. The concepts sound unique and quite intriguing. We have a Barbie-themed foldable device, a customisable smartphone, and another smartphone that you can fix yourself.
HMD FIY Phone
The company has planned to go the sustainable way and is focusing on sustainability by making screen replacements easier. The company said, “You can say goodbye to phone separation due to a broken screen and get swept up in the ‘FIY’ (Fix it Yourself) movement.” This smartphone could launch in July 2024.
HMD Barbie Flip Phone
It seems that the Barbie fever has not died down at the HMD office. It has partnered with Mattel to introduce a Pink coloured smartphone. Well, this will be a flip smartphone and will be called the HMD Barbie Flip phone. We could get this by May 2024.

HMD Fusion Phone
Next up, let’s talk about the Fusion phone. With this smartphone, HMD will allow you to customise your device. You can change the rear panel whichever way you like it. You will also be able to do hardware customisations with hardware accessories, as well as software customisations.
The sad part is that we don’t know anything else about these smartphones. We will just have to wait until HMD shares more information.
