Google to launch a fragrance emission device?
Google has bagged a new patent for a bizarre smart device that blasts your body odour and also notifies you when your friends are nearby at the time.
Google's latest patent hints the company may soon be working on a wearable device that will help people blast body odour. Dubbed as “fragrance emission device”, the wearable fits under your clothes and uses a number of sensors to detect body odours.
The device releases a sweet-smelling fragrance when it detects your odour has gone beyond a certain level. The device is capable of detecting changes in whiff intensity, ensuring the fragrance isn't too much for you and people around you.
Google's fragrance emission device comes with a small fan that ensures fragrance is emitted to certain devices. The device comes with social media integration that tells you when your contacts are in your proximity.
"When a user is wearing the fragrance emission device and begins to exert himself or herself, an activity module within the device may detect the physical exertion," reads the patent. "The activity module may detect a rise in sweat levels, an increase in body odor or body temperature, or any other parameter that may indicate the user is exercising or otherwise exerting themself (sic)."
“In addition to the features listed above, embodiments may include the ability to connect to a network (e.g., satellite, Wi-Fi, cellular, etc.) to track locations of the user's contacts via social networking sites or other location tracking services. In some cases, the device may learn that some of the user's social contacts (i.e., persons previously known to the user) are in the same area as the user and therefore may possibly meet the user within the area or on a similar route that the user is likely to take. However, to avoid subjecting the social contacts to the odor, the device may include a route suggesting portion that can notify the user that his contacts are in the area.”.

The new fragrance emitting device is really unique and perhaps bizarre. Right now, there's no word on whether Google will develop this device. However, wearables, especially fitness bands, are gaining wide popularity, there might be possibility Google will integrate the feature in its future products.
