Google Pixel users can now see the real-time temperature of their phones. This comes after Google released an update for its Pixel Troubleshooting app. Users with Pixel 6, 7, 8, and 9 series devices can now see a live temperature readout in the “Battery Diagnostics” section of the Settings app. The new feature will assist users in managing device performance, particularly in situations where the phone may overheat.
If you want to check your Pixel’s temperature, go to Settings, then Battery. Next, select Battery Diagnostics (at the bottom of the page). The temperature label will be color-coded: Cold, Normal, Warm, or Elevated. Messages and suggestions will appear based on the phone’s temperature. Like the following: “Your phone’s estimated temperature is higher than normal” and “This estimated temperature is typical with normal phone use.”
The new update displays temperature data in real-time, allowing users to stay informed about their device’s condition. Assume your phone is getting hot, it will offer tips to reduce it, such as lowering screen brightness or pausing charging to avoid overheating. And if the temperature rises above normal levels, the phone will automatically disable certain functions to cool down.

Along with the new feature, users will receive useful tips for cooling their device, such as allowing airflow around the phone, removing heavy-duty apps, and only using compatible cases. The company also recommends using an insulated case or placing the phone in an inner pocket to protect it in extreme weather conditions.
The live temperature readout feature comes with the latest update (version 1.0.693922709) and is available for devices running on Android 15 or later. The feature is rolling out gradually and not all users will be able to see it immediately. It is expected to be more widely available soon.
