After the launch of its Pixel 9 smartphone a couple of months back, Google is gearing up for the launch of another smartphone. This time, it is the more affordable Pixel 9a. Even though the tech giant hasn’t commented on the launch yet, the smartphone is expected sometime in March. Ahead of the launch, rumours and leaks have started to paint a picture of what we can expect from the device. Fresh leaks have given us more hints at the specifications of the Pixel 9a. So if you have been waiting for it for a while now, here’s everything that you can expect from the Pixel 9a.
Pixel 9a expected specifications
On the design front, we can expect to see a flat rear camera module, which is a shaft from the visor-like camera island seen on the Pixel 8a. It is expected to measure 154 x 73 x 8.9mm, slightly larger than the predecessor, likely due to a bigger battery. Recent renders revealed that the Pixel 9a can come in four different colours which will mirror the colour options on with the Pixel 9 series. These are: Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain. The phone can come with an IP68 rating.
If rumours are to be believed, the Pixel 9a will be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 SoC, paired with a Titan M2 security chip. Unlike the Pixel 9 series, the Pixel 9a is expected to ship with Android 15 out of the box.
On the camera front, the Pixel 9a is expected to feature a dual camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary camera along with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide Sony IMX712 sensor. On the front too, we can get a 13-megapixel selfie shooter.
Battery capacity is expected to increase to 5,100mAh, making it the largest battery ever in a Pixel device. Charging speeds are likely to remain the same as the Pixel 8a, with 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging support.
Pixel 9a price expectation
Reports suggest that pre-orders for the Pixel 9a could begin on March 19, with sales starting from March 26. The expected price is $499 (approximately Rs 42,000) for the 128GB storage variant.
