Just a day ago, I came across the 8K renders of the Google Pixel 9 Pro that revealed a changed design and gave a sneak peek into the camera module. However, today, I woke up to 5K renders of the vanilla variant, the Pixel 9. Google is expected to launch the Pixel 9 series in the second half of this year, as usual. It’s a long way till we see these smartphones coming to life. But, these renders of the Pixel 9 give us some hints at the design and a change in the camera module.
The Google Pixel 9 renders were also revealed by OnLeaks, however, this time the leaker has collaborated with 91mobiles. Moving on to the design, the Pixel 9 series is said to launch with a major design changes and it’s not something that we haven’t seen before. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are expected to launch with a boxy design this time, finally leaving the curvy design. The moment I saw these renders, an iPhone came into my mind, do you know why? Because that’s where we have seen this design.
The boxy and flat design seems to be a new trend now. First, iQOO switched to it with the iQOO 12, then Samsung with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and now the Google Pixel 9 series is rumoured to have a flat and boxy design.

The Google Pixel 9 has been seen in Blue colour in the renders. It will reportedly have a flat-screen and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. Furthermore, the SIM tray, the speaker, and a USB-C port have been rumoured to be placed at the bottom. The Google Pixel 9 will be packed with a metal side-frame. It would most likely be an aluminum frame or maybe Titanium could enter the picture too. On the right panel, there is a power button and volume rockers.
Now let’s talk about its back where a big upgrade has been hinted at.

On the back, these renders reveal a horizontal cylindrical camera module that is not going from edge to edge this time. Moreover, three camera sensors can be seen in the renders. No Pixel has featured a triple-camera setup previously except for the Pro variants. But, the Pixel 9 is rumoured to be the first one to get this. Interestingly, this third camera sensor is said to be a Telephoto sensor. The rest of the two sensors have not been disclosed yet.
