Google has finally launched its much-awaited Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This is the second generation fold by Google, hence a lot of upgrades are there. It competes directly with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Both of these are proper flagship foldables that come loaded with specs and AI features too. In this article, I am doing the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 battle, so let’s get started.
Let’s start with the design first. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It weighs 257g and is 5.1mm thin when unfolded. Google claims that this is the thinnest fold in India. It is IPX8-rated and comes in two colour options; Obsidian and Porcelain.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It weighs 239 grams and is 5.6mm thin when unfolded. It comes with an IP48 rating and comes in three colour options; Silver Shadow, Navy, and Pink.
Moving on to the display now. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has an 8-inch foldable LTPO OLED panel that supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and 2700 nits of peak brightness. Now, for the outer display, you get a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and the same 2700 nits of peak brightness. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and has 2600 nits of peak brightness. Coming to its outer display, it is a 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate support. It has 1600 nits of peak brightness.
On the performance front, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold runs on Google’s latest Google Tensor G4. Its top-end variant comes with 256GB storage and 16GB RAM. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, on the other hand, is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Its top-end variant comes with 1TB storage and 12GB RAM.
Both the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 have been launched with Android 14, just that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 runs on Android 14-based One UI 6. You get 7 years of OS and security updates with both.
Alright, for the camera, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold holds a triple camera set up with a 48-megapixel main camera, 10.5-megapixel ultrawide, and another 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens. For selfies, you get a 10-megapixel selfie shooter and another 10-megapixel lens on the inner display.
It also has a triple-camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. For selfies, its outer display has a 10-megapixel shooter and the foldable display has a 4-megapixel shooter.
Lastly, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a 4650 mAh battery with 45-watt fast charging support. Whereas, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 runs on a 4400mAh battery with 25-watt fast charging support. Both support wireless charging too.
Both the foldables come with a fair share of AI features. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has these features: Add Me, Auto Frame in Magic Editor, Pixel weather app, Magic List, Screenshot app, Pixel Studio, and Clear calling. On the other hand, with Galaxy Z Fold 6, you get Translation and Summaries, Auto Formatting, Transcript feature, Circle to Search, Live Translate, Sketch to Image, and more.
Google has launched the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at a starting price of Rs 1,72,999. Whereas, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes at a price of Rs 1,64,999.
