The design of Google’s next generation Pixel devices has been leaked again. This time around, notable leakster, @OnLeaks aka Steve Hemmerstoffer has partnered with MySmartPrice to create 3D renders of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. These renders are said to be based on factory CADs. These renders have reaffirmed some of the design decisions that were tipped by previous leaks. The first thing to note is the fact that the Pixel 3 may sport a standard display, while the large Pixel 3 XL is tipped to sport a notch. Further, both phones are expected to feature a single rear camera setup. However, it seems like we might get a dual-camera setup at the front along with stereo speakers.
The report also states that Google might bump up the screen size of the two Pixel devices. The Pixel 3 may features a 5.4-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, while the larger Pixel 3 XL may features a 6.2-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. By comparison, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL sported 5-inch and 6-inch displays respectively. However, this increase in display size should not make much of a difference in terms of physical dimensions. The Pixel 3 is tipped to measure 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9mm, which is close to the 145.7 x 69.7 x 7.8mm size of the Pixel 2. Similarly, the Pixel 3 XL is tipped to measure 158 x 76.6 x 7.9mm, which is about the same as the 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9mm size of the Pixel 3 XL.
Coming back to the renders of the two phones. Both devices are tipped to feature a small glass panel on the back, with the rest made out of metal. The SIM card tray shown to be placed on the bottom of the phone, next to the USB Type-C port. The images also suggest that the power and volume buttons may be placed on the right edge of the phone, while the left edge may be left bare. Speaking of the edge, a few weeks back, it was reported that the Pixel 3 devices may inherit the Active Edge features found on HTC’s flagship smartphones.
