Google Pixel 2 XL spotted on FCC, LG confirmed as manufacturer
Google’s upcoming flagship has once again been spotted on the database of US regulatory body FCC. The filing confirms previous rumours that LG will be building the device for Google.
Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are fast approaching launch. A new sighting on the database of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) confirms that LG is indeed the manufacturer for the company’s larger flagship smartphone, the Pixel 2 XL, in 2017.
Google will be launching the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on October 4 and the company has started teasing the announcement by setting up billboards, putting up a teaser link on the Chrome browser and posting a YouTube Video.
The leaked FCC document does not give out any other information about the Pixel 2 XL, except the fact that it will not work on the 600MHz T-Mobile spectrum in the US. Previously published FCC documents had confirmed that the Pixel 2 is being manufactured by HTC. Google is also reportedly in the final stages of negotiating a deal for HTC's smartphone division.
Both the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 and not the rumoured Snapdragon 836 mobile platform. With Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google is expected to add a squeezable frame, similar to the one found on HTC's U11. The squeezable frame is expected to trigger the Google Assistant and certain applications on the two devices.
